ASB South Asia and Southeast Asia (ASB S-SEA), through its activities, aims to enhance inclusion, empowerment, and resilience of the most vulnerable communities in humanitarian assistance, disaster risk reduction, socio-economic development, and climate change adaptation. Since 2024, ASB S-SEA has been collaborating in a consortium with two German organisations, Arche Nova and the German Toilet Organisation (GTO), which lead the implementation of a global programme in 14 countries across Latin America, Africa, Middle East, and Asia, named; “Environmental Sound and Climate Resilient Transformation of Humanitarian WASH (ECT WASH Programme)”.
In Indonesia, the programme is named; “Program Penguatan Kapasitas Lokal untuk Air Minum dan Penyehatan Lingkungan (AMPL) yang Aksesibel dan Peka Iklim melalui Peningkatan Respons Kemanusiaan yang Ramah Lingkungan (Seger Waras Programme)”. This programme aims to strengthen local capacity to build and maintain climate-resilient WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) services in the programme areas. In Indonesia, the programme is implemented in Ngalang and Girisuko villages in Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, and in Ngadiharjo and Giritengah villages in Magelang Regency, Central Java Province, which are affected by hydrometeorological disasters and climate change.
