Inclusion is the process whereby every person (irrespective of gender, age, disability, and personal affiliation and preference), who wishes to, can access and participate fully in all aspects of society in the same way as any other member of the community. Inclusion can be thought of as a combination of participation and access. Access can include physical access, access to information, access to services opportunities and other areas. Ensuring inclusion requires understanding and identifying who and why some people may be excluded, actively breaking down barriers to access and participation, and providing reasonable accommodation for all.
ASB takes inclusion seriously. We aim to ensure that all, particularly those most at-risk, can actively participate in and meaningfully contribute to our and our partners’ work. We support and promote a whole-of-community approach. For ASB, inclusive solutions are at the very heart of effective risk management and form the foundation of resilience and sustainable development as a whole.’
