The Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction Network (DiDRRN) was launched at the 5th Asian Ministerial Conference on DRR, 22 October 2012.
Co-founded by ASB, CBM, Handicap International and Malteser International, DiDRRN aims to ensure that persons with disabilities are better represented and accounted for in DRR policy and practice.
Over 15% of the world’s population are living with disability and these individuals are at greatest risk during and following disaster. To date, persons with disabilities, and the increased risks they face, have not been sufficiently accounted for in DRR. DiDRRN partners are commited to better inform policy makers and to provide concrete examples of effective practice with the aim of establishing graeter inclusion within post-2015 DRR and development frameworks.
