Earlier this year, ASB Team in West Sumatra has been working on strengthening infrastructures in Pesisir Selatan and the Mentawai Island District. This activity is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In relation with ASB’s continuous effort to support community resilience towards disaster, the infrastructures are focused on increasing the availability and accessibility of evacuation route and evacuation center. The activities have been conducted in 11 places in 6 villages, involving the local communities as direct implementers. Collaboration between ASB and the community intertwines through a community working group mechanism established in each village. To date, the infrastructure development has started to show significant improvements, as seen in the picture taken at Kaliou Sub Village in the Mentawai Islands.
