Strengthening socio-economic development and resilience by actively involving vulnerable population groups such as people with disabilities in local decision-making processes and social entrepreneurship

The socio-economic situation and resilience of vulnerable groups (in particular persons with disabilities) in 9 municipalities in the province of Leyte, Philippines has improved.

Persons with disabilities and other stakeholders in 18 Barangays in 9 municipalities in the province are able to assert their ideas and interests in exchange with local government agencies and other interest groups and generate a crisis-proof income independently.

1. 180 new development actors ( 10 per barangay) have improved knowledge on disability rights and disability inclusive development
2. 360 stakeholders from local government have improved knowledge on inclusion and disability rights and have been practising inclusion in socio economic development planning
3. As a result of the roll-out of training content by 180 new development actors, a further 540 people in the Barangays (persons with disabilities, representatives of other vulnerable groups, government representatives) have improved their knowledge of disability rights and inclusion.
4. In the project communities there are 12 inclusive and risk-sensitive cooperatives that are formally registered and have started operations.
5. At least 360 persons with disabilities and local government representatives have improved knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness and risk management (planning and implementation).
6. A national advocacy plan for the inclusion of persons with disabilities was developed, which reflects the experiences of local project work and supports local initiatives in the project communities.
7. At the end of the project, the local partner organisation FTI has the necessary knowledge and skills to strategically integrate the aspects of inclusion and risk management into its socio-economic programmes and to pass on corresponding practices and approaches to state and civil society partners.
